Working alone using available written resources and calculator, read and complete the requirements set forth in numbers one through five related to the Exercise Prescription Form. Show calculations where appropriate.

 

Scenario Client

The following client works regularly Monday through Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM, she is married, has three older children and has no activity preferences. Her Prescreening Activity Survey indicated that that she has been participating in light daily physical activity. Her assessment data is as follows:

 

 

Scenario Requirements

1)   Initial Screening Status concerning Medical Referral and Exercise Intensities.
 

2)     Classify Number of cardiovascular risk factors.

 

3)    Classify the following: cardiovascular fitness, blood pressure, body fat, muscular strength & endurance, and flexibility.
 

4)     State in order of priority, three primary objectives you would design your program to achieve for the client.

5)     Provide an Initial Exercise Prescription that would be safe and effective for the client.

·       Include all necessary prescription variables for the program.

·       Provide initial low & high intensities in the forms of %HRR, Heart Rate, VO2, MET, RPE, Calorie and RPE (old & new scales).

·       Provide total MET-min, and Kcal's per session and week for your Low %HRR.

  

6)     Provide three modes of physical activity (PA) from 'A' and 'B' Exercise Groups (p. 158) that you would prescribe for the individual.

 

7)     Provide a progression of your prescription for a period of four months.

·        Copy your initial prescription (Question #5) for Week #1. For the remaining weeks prescribe ExRx variables that would achieve a safe progression of increased PA up to 16 weeks or up to the time that your client has achieved the minimum CDC physical activity recommendations.

·       Use the slash symbol (/) to indicate no change in a variable; enter only new variable values when changes occur.

·       State major considerations and recommendations you would be aware of and/or implement to increase the safety and effectiveness of your client's program.
